Duluth, Minn. & Knoxville, Tenn. (20 July 2021) – Cirrus Aircraft today unveiled a re-imagined Vision Jet™ – the G2+ Vision Jet – featuring optimized engine performance for expanded mission capabilities, Gogo® InFlight WiFi for a connected cabin experience, and bold, new colorways for added ramp presence. The G2+ Vision Jet is the latest demonstration of the company’s dedication to relentless innovation, and joins a host of industry-leading technologies offered in the best-selling jet in general aviation, including Autothrottle, Safe Return™ Emergency Autoland and the Perspective Touch+™ by Garmin® flight deck.

“The G2+ Vision Jet is the next step in continuing to transform personal aviation,” said Zean Nielsen, CEO at Cirrus Aircraft. “The enhancements to both the take-off performance capabilities in hot and high conditions and the InFlight WiFi connected passenger experience ensure that the Vision Jet continues to exceed the evolving needs of our owners, both present and future. This aircraft is one more revolutionary advance in personal aviation, made possible by the world-class team at Cirrus Aircraft.”

Optimized Performance for Expanded Possibilities

The Vision Jet is known as a versatile single-engine jet capable of adapting to the unique needs of business and personal travel missions. With the G2+ Vision Jet, the Williams FJ33-5A engine has been finely tuned with a newly optimized thrust profile that provides up to 20% increased performance during take-off. The optimized performance joins the expanded flight envelope to FL310, launched with the G2 Vision Jet in 2019, offering enhanced performance to increase range, carry more and enjoy added reassurance in hot temperatures and high elevations – providing access to additional airports at popular destinations across the globe.

Connected Cabin Experience with Gogo InFlight WiFi

Available for the first time on the G2+ Vision Jet, Gogo InFlight WiFi adds industry-leading connectivity while in the air using Gogo’s AVANCE L3 system. Elevating the cabin experience, InFlight WiFi keeps the pilot and passengers connected, enhancing productivity and enabling real-time communication with teams and customers on the ground to keep commerce moving at jet speed. The added convenience of USB-C ports keeps devices charged for further productivity.

As an added convenience for owners and operators, the initial Gogo InFlight WiFi subscription can be included in the JetStream ownership program. Designed as a comprehensive program, JetStream goes beyond a standard warranty to provide the added benefits of normal wear replacement, recurrent training, direct support, subscription services and more for a worry-free ownership experience.

Re-Imagined Designs for an Enhanced Ramp Presence

New colorways, including bold additions like Titan Grey, Volt and Bimini Blue, join updated design lines that accentuate the distinct curve of the Vision Jet’s carbon fiber fuselage for an unmistakable presence on the ramp, runway or in the air. From the exterior, pilot and passengers step into a remarkably spacious interior designed around the largest cabin in its class, featuring premium leather, bolstered seats, noise reduction and an immersive experience made possible by the panoramic windows unique to the Vision Jet.

The Evolution of the Vision Jet

Launched in 2016, the Vision Jet defined a new category in aviation – the Personal Jet™ – with its spacious pilot and passenger-friendly cabin featuring panoramic windows, reclining seats, comfortable legroom for five adults and two children and the only turbine aircraft with a whole airframe parachute system as standard equipment. A new milestone in the journey of the Vision Jet was reached in 2018, with the historic win of the Robert J. Collier Trophy from the National Aeronautic Association.

In early 2019, the company announced the launch of the G2 Vision Jet, with enhanced performance, comfort and safety. Evolutionary features included increased cruise altitude, speed and range, along with a newly upgraded Perspective Touch+ by Garmin flight deck. In addition to the upgrades, several innovative technologies were added to the G2 Vision Jet, including a category-first Autothrottle, Flight Stream connectivity and more.

The Vision Jet experienced further evolution with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and, most recently, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), certification of Safe Return Emergency Autoland – a revolutionary system that allows passengers to land the Vision Jet with just the touch of a button in emergency situations. More recently announced, Garmin’s Autoland technology – which enables Safe Return – was awarded the Collier Trophy by the National Aeronautic Association, previously awarded to Cirrus Aircraft for the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System™ (CAPS®) on the Vision Jet. With the prestigious award-winning combination of Safe Return and CAPS, the Vision Jet provides the most comprehensive, must-have total safety solution in general aviation.

The company also announced VisionAir™ in 2020, a revolutionary ownership program for the Vision Jet. Designed as a completely turnkey program, VisionAir includes everything needed to own, operate and manage a Vision Jet – making the reality of owning the world’s first Personal Jet more accessible than ever.

The worldwide fleet currently includes more than 265 Vision Jets with over 500 Type Ratings issued for the aircraft. Deliveries for the G2+ Vision Jet are planned to begin in August 2021.

Duluth, Minn. and Knoxville, Tenn. (31 August 2020) – Cirrus Aircraft and Garmin International, Inc. today announced Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification of the Cirrus Vision JetTM Safe ReturnTM system – a revolutionary system enabled by Garmin’s autoland technology that allows passengers to land the Vision Jet with just the touch of a button. The certification follows tremendous growth of the Vision Jet, including it becoming the world’s best-selling jet in general aviation earlier this year and delivery of the 200th Vision Jet last month. Now, with Safe Return and the Collier award-winning Cirrus Airframe Parachute System® (CAPS®), the Vision Jet provides the most comprehensive, must-have total safety solution in general aviation.

“With Safe Return, we are making personal aviation more accessible, elevating the passenger experience and taking the next step towards autonomous flight,” said Zean Nielsen, Chief Executive Officer at Cirrus Aircraft. “The Vision Jet sets a new standard in personal travel with the combination of Safe Return and CAPS, offering the ultimate level of safety, control and comfort for the pilot and passengers.”

The Safe Return activation button is purposefully located on ceiling of the Vision Jet’s cabin for easy access by passengers and can be activated, if needed, within minutes of the aircraft’s take-off. Once activated by the touch of a button, Safe Return assumes control of the aircraft and transforms the Vision Jet into an autonomous vehicle that navigates to the nearest suitable airport for landing, communicates with air traffic control, lands and brings the aircraft safely to a complete stop, allowing passengers to exit the aircraft. This revolutionary system is powered by the Cirrus Perspective+ by Garmin® flight deck, which uses all available aircraft data to calculate a flight plan, avoid terrain and weather, initiate an approach and complete a fully autonomous landing without pilot or passenger intervention.

Additionally, the flight deck provides visual and aural updates to the passengers, including current location, remaining fuel, airport of arrival and estimated time of arrival. Safe Return can be easily disengaged by the pilot with a simple press of the Autopilot disconnect button on the yoke if a passenger inadvertently activates the system.

“Garmin and Cirrus share a passion for designing and engineering products without compromise. Together, we have delivered some of the finest safety-enhancing technologies to our customers over the years, and we are proud to now add the certification of Garmin Autoland in the Cirrus Vision Jet to that growing list of accomplishments,” said Phil Straub, Garmin Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Aviation. “Congratulations to our collective teams who contributed to the certification of Autoland on the Vision Jet, a technology that will undoubtedly have lasting impacts on the safety of our aviation industry and the lives of our customers.”

In 2016, Cirrus Aircraft ushered in a new era in personal transportation with the FAA certification of the world’s first single-engine Personal Jet – the Vision Jet. The turbine aircraft defined a new category in aviation with its spacious pilot and passenger-friendly cabin featuring panoramic windows, reclining seats, comfortable legroom for five adults and two children, and as the only turbine aircraft with a whole airframe parachute system as standard equipment. Then, in 2019, Cirrus Aircraft unveiled and began delivery of the G2 Vision Jet, offering enhanced performance, comfort and safety with increased cruise altitude, speed and range, and a newly-upgraded Perspective Touch+TM by Garmin® flight deck.

Flying IFR in a Cirrus aircraft is a refreshing experience for any pilot – no matter the experience level. In fact, the SR Series was designed to optimize IFR flying, with the technologically-advanced Cirrus Perspective+™ by Garmin® flight deck delivering essential information to the large 10- or 12-inch flight displays for easy navigation.

To help demonstrate the ease of use of the industry-leading flight deck, we’ve asked our SR Series product team to outline the experience of flying IFR in a 2020 G6 SR Series.

Pre-Departure

  1. After a thorough pre-flight briefing and an examination of your aircraft, you’re ready to climb in and taxi out.
  2. Using the airport information database you can look up the local clearance / ground / tower frequencies and get your clearance.
  3. Next, you can enter your cleared route directly into the Cirrus Perspective+ avionics flightplan page using the convenient QWERTY keypad or wirelessly transfer it via a Bluetooth connection to the panel using either Garmin Pilot or Foreflight and Garmin FlightStream 510.
  4. With your aircraft setup for navigation, you work through your electronic pre-taxi and pre-takeoff checklists, using the enter key, each item can be checked off and is stored as completed, even if your flow is interrupted and you go to a different page, when you come back to the checklist, it remembers where you left off.

During Take-Off and Climb

  1. A single push of the TO/GA button on the throttle sets up the flight director for takeoff mode. Once cleared for takeoff, set your heading bug on the PDF to your assigned heading and advance the throttle.
  2. Unique to a Cirrus aircraft, at 600’ AGL an audible notification reminds you that CAPS® is available, and now you activate the Garmin GFC 700 autopilot. This 3-axis digital autopilot is capable of navigating the rest of the flight until you disconnect it at your approach minimums.
  3. As you climb, charted obstacles and terrain are depicted directly on the PFD. And with your route and altitude clearance set in the avionics, you can also see your cleared flight path as highway-in-the-sky boxes in the synthetic vision display, which aids your situational awareness by giving you a target to follow in the climb.
  4. Throughout your flight, the Garmin frequency database ensures you know you are talking to the right frequency, even showing the name of the air traffic control facility you are tuned into on the PFD.
  5. Now, you can complete the climb checklist and prepare to level off for cruise flight.

Cruising in Confidence While In Flight

  1. Once in cruise flight, you complete the cruise checklist on the MFD and tune in to your favorite music, via SiriusXM® . You can also monitor weather conditions, including animated NEXRAD weather, lightning strikes, freezing levels, winds aloft and destination METARs and TAFs, along your route through SiriusXM.
  2. Through cruise you can monitor the aircraft, with up-to-date critical engine information available on the engine indication strip on the MFD. Additional detail is also available on the dedicated engine monitoring page of the MFD.
  3. You can also be confident that the avionics are constantly monitoring the aircraft and will notify you if anything requires your attention. For example, if the outside air temp drops below 5°C, a notification appears on the PFD until the pitot heat is switched on. Similarly, an alert will appear if the fuel tanks exceed the recommended fuel imbalance, reminding the pilot to switch tanks.

As You Make Your Approach

  1. As you approach your destination, you can find the destination airport frequency info and tune into the local weather, via ATIS or AWOS, which are digitally selectable and can be loaded into the appropriate communication frequency with the press of a couple buttons without having to spin dials or type numbers.
  2. At this point you know to expect a visual or instrument approach, which you can load into the avionics and, once activated, the autopilot will navigate the approach (and the missed approach, if necessary).

Once Your Reach Your Destination

  1. After landing make sure to zoom in on the MFD and use geo-referenced SafeTaxi charts to know exactly where you are on the airport. This helps you navigate a new airport and find your preferred FBO with ease.

If you’re looking for more of a demonstration, here’s a full pre-flight briefing and demo IFR flight from the Cirrus Aircraft Vision Center in Knoxville, Tennessee (TYS) to the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) in Atlanta, GA.

And if you’re ready to take the next step with a demo flight to experience the most intelligent, most connected and most capable aircraft in its class, find your nearest Sales Director here.
